1 Samuel 3 Sermon Study Questions

One of the ways God judges His people is by removing His word from our presence.  How can this happen in the life of a church? How can this happen in the life of someone who rejects Jesus?  Have you ever felt this in your own life? What is the appropriate response?

When the word of God is present (preached / read / studied / memorized) God is present by His Spirit. How can you work to be more present before the word of God?  Are there strategies for avoiding technology that we can use to be more present before the word of God? What practical ways can you say Here I am! Speak for your servant is listening!

God’s word judges us according to His rightness in order for us to see what sin may be separating us from God. How can this lead to joy in the gospel? How does this change your disposition before the word of God? How should this change our response to the word of God when we hear it?        

The presence of God has come to us in the word of God inflesh. God has called us into His presence by calling us to Jesus. Do you need to respond to the call of God in Jesus?

Jesus work as a mediator can be described in the following ways: Jesus is God’s word from the presence of God to us. Jesus is God’s word in the presence of God for us. Why is this good news in light of your sins? How can you work to be more aware of Jesus present priestly work in the presence of God for you?
