Revelation 2:1-7 Sermon Discussion Questions

Jesus praises the church in Ephesus for their hard work, perseverance as they witness, and pure doctrine. Where do you see these praiseworthy things in your church?

What things in your life, even good things, could be taking priority over and above genuine love for Jesus and others?

What would it look like for you to remember your “first” love for Jesus and others? What would repentance from the things that may have stolen your love for Jesus and others look like? What things can you do that you once did to cultivate love for Jesus and others?

Jesus reminds the church of the reward for those who endure in love. This is meant to  encourage those who love but warn those who lack love for Jesus and others. Why is this reminder and warning important in times of persecution or opposition? How should this warning drive you away from cynicism and disdain toward those who disagree with you and oppose Christ?
